1997 BMW 328iS Cosmos Black/Black Sport Package 5-spd Coupe!

If you are looking for an E36 and are tired of looking at cars owned by kids, modified heavily, driven into the ground and salvage titles, here is your car! This is the “Holy Grail” 328iS, here is why:

When I found this particular car I was taken aback by the condition it was in. The car was completely original and was owned by an individual who was a very particular BMW enthusiast. They had owned the car since 1998 and were regular customers at a well regarded Independent BMW Service facility. They had detailed maintenance records and it had the all important sports package. Even though it was one of the nicer ones I have seen, I am a perfectionist and this car was the perfect canvas to which I could make the ideal E36. So we embarked on a mild refresh or restore, here is what has been done:

Mechanical:

Full inspection II which includes the following:

  • Engine Oil and Filter
  • Engine Air Filter
  • Cabin Air Filter
  • Fuel Filter
  • New Spark plugs
  • New Coil Boots
  • New Valve Cover Gasket
  • New Redline transmission fluid
  • New differential fluid

During our inspection we also rectified the following issues:

  • New passenger window motor
  • Repaired the driver’s seat buckle and release for the infamous Airbag warning light issue.
  • Replaced the hood struts
  • Replaced the BMW Roundel on the hood
  • New Battery

The car also got the required and expensive cooling system overhaul which includes:

  • New Radiator
  • New Water pump
  • New Thermostat
  • All new hoses

Improvements/Upgrades

  • 4 New Yokohama S-Drive Performance tires
  • New Windshield as the old one was pitted
  • Paintless Ding repair to remove any dings in the car
  • Complete clay, machine polish and wax
  • Pioneer CD Head Unit with Front Panel USB/IPOD input was installed.

The car is now nearly perfect, I would challenge someone to find one like it. Obviously you might be able to find one for less money, this car is either for the perfectionist or for the customer who understands that you can either pay up front for the best car available or you can pay down the road in expensive repairs. Suffice it to say the cost of the above repairs would exceed $5000, you get the advantage of the fact that I occasionally like to tackle projects like this for my love of the brand.

The car of course has a clean history, has never been damaged and has the correct VIN tags on every panel. The body, paint, interior are like new. Everything works the way it is supposed to and there are no stories or excuses. The car comes complete with two original keys, all the books and manuals, the original instruction cassette, all the original tools, even the window tag that was hung on the mirror when the car was delivered. It has a complete service history documenting all of this work.
